Come on In! The Front Door

The house sits back about 100 feet from the road, which has little traffic—tractors and balers as often as cars and school buses—behind a thick, shady screen of willows along the seasonal roadside creek. Redwood steps and deck, including a nice bench under the locust tree, lead up to the front door, which is framed in a warm, welcoming wall of red-brown fieldstone. Huge windows provide great views and wonderful light throughout the house.

There’s a bench outside the front door, a comfortable place for a chat,
the morning paper or a good book.

The deck starts at the front walk and curls from the south side of the house around the front (east) side and past the kitchen and master bedroom suite to stairs down to the back yard. The custom-built railing ensures maximum views from the deck and inside the house through floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire front of the house, living room, kitchen and master suite.

Once inside the front door, the entry hall takes you into the living room (straight ahead or to the right),
or turn left into a sitting room/office.
